Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a hormonal disorder that affects women of reproductive age and has some symptoms and consequences.

  • Causes of PCOS:

There may not be a clear cause of PCOS in women, but there are some factors that contribute to developing PCOS, including:

1- Insulin resistance, which is often accompanied by an increase in the patient's weight, then increased insulin secretion leads to an increase in the level of androgen.
2 - Genetic predisposition as some genes can cause PCOS.
3 - An increased secretion of androgen via the ovaries.
4 - A state of inflammation in the body.

  • Symptoms of PCOS:

1 - Irregular menstrual cycle.
2 - An increase in facial hair and body hair.
3 - Acne.
4 - Enlarged ovaries.
5 - Weight gain in the abdominal area.

You should always be examined at the Obstetrics and Gynecology clinic if any of those symptoms are observed.

2 - Delayed reproduction or infertility.
3 - Prediabetes or type 2 diabetes.
4 - premature birth.
